Undaunted by the rain
John Bauman bursts forth into the night!
Like a,
uh…
rocket I guess
or some kind of fast moving projectile
or…uh…
Anyway, with amazing speed and power
John Bauman bursts forth to save the night!
And then,
well,
he goes and buys some groceries,
and then he needs to run another errand,
pay the cell phone bill then,
uh…go back home.

Introducing: Joanne Delphia
I saw these bright watercolor paintings over at the Cup & Top Cafe in Florence, and looked to see who the artist was. It was Joanne Delphia! who I had worked with making computer games at Cyberlore Studios. I guess I'm not sure that I ever knew she even made art, but I liked what I saw very much, so sent her an email. Then I saw her at a party and found out she has a son! The things I didn't know.

my best friend shot me to death
my best friend shot me to death
with words muttered under his breath
that made me second guess
who i am
some corporation stabbed me in the chest
they plastered me with advertisements
and took all the money i had left
then they sent me a coupon
the information age took my name
and put it on some list
they sent me a free pencil
which is how i wrote this

Introducing: Guy Constantine
I met Guy a couple of years ago, and now I know him a little from hanging out at parties, and sometimes playing games. Some people say he is too "nice", but he doesn't think so. I found out that he wrote poetry and got him to read some to me. I liked what I heard, and decided I wanted to help people get to know his writing.

My Good Shoes Are Resting
My good shoes are resting
uh...under the couch.
You know, those fancy wing-tip style
snazzy shoes.
They heard about my slackerly life and thought
"what the hell,
maybe we'll try that."
I like to dust them off
and wear them sometimes
to look nice
or maybe just feel important.
Walk down the hallway,
make that distinct loud sound
(clomp, clomp, clomp).
The sound that says
"everybody notice me"
(clomp, clomp, clomp)
"I'm a professional"
(clomp, clomp, clomp)
"I've got things to do"
(clomp, clomp, clomp)
"'cause I'm and important person"
(clomp, clomp, clomp).
But for now my good shoes are resting
uh... under the couch.

Introducing: John Bauman
John Bauman is a very creative fellow. We used to do poetry shows together. And often played music together. In addition to writing poems, he writes a lot of palindromes*, and works at 7/11.
We went to an open mic together once, and he got up after all these people had read gut-wrenching and/or serious poetry, and read a weird random poem. No one knew how to take it, but I was laughing very hard.
I met John at the old Fire & Water. Back then he always carried a bottle of seltzer water with him, so I nick-named him John the baptist, but that didn't last.
* A palindrome is a word or sentence or longer text which reads the same backwards and forwards (the letters are the same anyway). Examples: "Racecar", "Kayak", "Wow Bob, wow!"
